FURNITURE MAKING LEVEL 3 DIPLOMA

It’s a practical course which covers woodmachine training, advanced furniture making techniques and finishing skills. Successful students can progress to our furniture design and make foundation degree.

Level 3 Diploma: Product

WHAT WILL I LEARN?

In this one year course you can expect ....

To learn:

  • Advanced cabinet-making techniques

  • Wood machining 

  • Design Skills

  • Wood finishing

  • A health and safety module (if not completed at level 2 previously)

Learning methods:

  • Practical activities in the workshop

  • Tutor demonstrations

  • Some lectures on technical drawing and technology


Assessments:

  • You are continuously assessed by practical exercises and written work.

  • You produce a portfolio of learning and complete a timed practical assignment.

  • A one-hour multiple choice exam in health and safety.

Level 3 Diploma: Text

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

  • 5+ GCSEs at grade A*–C (grades 4–9) including English and maths

or

  • BTEC level 2 Diploma grade Merit or Distinction, plus GCSE grade C/4 or above

or

  • Functional Skills at level 2 in English and maths.

Applicants will be invited to attend an interview and complete an internal assessment. All students will have their literacy and numeracy needs supported within the programme.
